Multi-Team Trade Negotiation

Why Multi-Team Trades Work

Sometimes the perfect trade partner doesn't have what you need, but a third team does. Multi-team trades solve the "missing piece" problem by creating value chains that benefit everyone involved.

Example Scenario

Team A: Needs RB, has extra WR

Team B: Needs WR, has extra TE

Team C: Needs TE, has extra RB

Solution: A's WR → B, B's TE → C, C's RB → A. Everyone gets what they need!

How to Orchestrate 3-Team Trades

Step 1: Identify the Need Chain

Map out what each team needs and what they have to give. Look for circular dependencies where A helps B, B helps C, C helps A.

Step 2: Propose to All Parties

Present the full trade to all teams simultaneously. Explain how each team benefits. Use league chat or group message to keep everyone in the loop.

Step 3: Negotiate as a Package

All teams must agree. If one team backs out, the whole thing falls apart. Be flexible and willing to add/remove pieces to get everyone to yes.

Step 4: Execute Simultaneously

Submit all trades at the same time. Some platforms support 3-team trades directly. Others require coordinating multiple 2-team trades that process together.

Common Pitfalls

  • Complexity overload: Don't involve 4+ teams. Keep it simple or it falls apart
  • Unequal value: Every team must feel like they won. If one team gets fleeced, the trade gets vetoed
  • Trust issues: One team pulling out last minute ruins it for everyone. Get written commitments
