Playoff Trading Strategy
The Win-Now Mentality
Playoff trading requires a different mindset. If you're a contender in Weeks 10-14, you're no longer building for the season—you're optimizing for Weeks 15-17 only. Future value means nothing if you don't make playoffs.
- Trade depth for stars: Consolidate bench players for elite starters
 - Ignore next year: In redraft, Week 18 doesn't exist. Only playoff weeks matter
 - Target playoff schedules: RB facing three bottom-10 run defenses in playoffs? Perfect

Championship-Week Matchups
Week 17 (or 16 in some leagues) is all that matters for champions. Target players with elite championship week matchups:
🎯 Identify Favorable Matchups
Look at defensive rankings for Weeks 15-17. Target players facing bottom-5 defenses in championship week.
Example: A WR1 facing a top-5 pass defense in Week 17 might be worth less than a WR2 facing the worst pass defense.
🏟️ Home/Road Splits
Some players perform drastically better at home. Check where they play in playoffs.
☀️ Weather Considerations
Late December brings weather concerns. Avoid outdoor games in Buffalo, Green Bay, etc. if possible.
Trading with Eliminated Teams
Teams out of playoff contention become your trade partners:
- Offer keeper/dynasty value: They care about next year, you care about this year
 - Target their studs: A 2-10 team doesn't need Ja'Marr Chase for one more week
 - Package depth players: Give them quantity for quality—they'll appreciate the rebuild pieces

Roster Construction for Playoffs
Your playoff roster should look different from your Week 5 roster:
Prioritize ceiling over floor: In playoffs, you need 150 points to win, not 110. Target boom players.
Reduce bench depth: You don't need 5 startable RBs. Get 2-3 elite ones instead.
Handcuff your stars: If your RB1 gets hurt in semis, you're done. Get his backup.
