Davante Adams Hamstring Injury: Hold, Drop or Trade?
The Rams expect Adams to miss six to ten weeks. Decide whether an IR stash, a redraft replacement, or a dynasty offer fits your roster.
October 21, 2026. Davante Adams is a long-term stash decision rather than a near-term lineup option. Sean McVay said the Rams receiver is expected to miss six to ten weeks with a ruptured hamstring. Managers need to compare the cost of waiting with the players available to help before the fantasy playoffs.
What is the reported return window?
The Rams' October 19 injury update attributes the six-to-ten-week estimate to McVay after the Arizona game. AP's report independently reports that expected absence.
The estimate spans a substantial part of the remaining fantasy season. It is not a booked return date. Being medically available later would also leave a separate question about how quickly Adams could handle a normal workload.
Check your own league's regular-season finish and playoff dates. Two leagues can attach very different value to the same possible late-season return.
Should you keep Adams in redraft?
An eligible IR slot makes holding easier. You can preserve a chance of later production while adding an active replacement. Review the decision again if a different injured player needs that slot or the projected absence changes.
Without IR space, the relevant cost is the bench player you cannot carry. A roster already struggling to field healthy starters may need that flexibility sooner than a deep contender does. Compare the likely available weeks with your realistic path to remaining in contention.
Dropping him can be reasonable in a shallow league when keeping him would prevent an essential lineup move. A manager with several open bench spots can afford more patience. Draft cost alone should not determine either decision.
When can a trade help?
A team near the top of the standings may be willing to stash Adams. If you need points immediately, an offer returning a receiver you can actually start deserves consideration. Avoid counting a collection of unusable bench pieces as meaningful compensation.
For the buyer, leave room for the later end of the timetable and for an uncertain first game back. Paying for immediate WR production would create a mismatch between what the roster needs and what Adams can currently provide.
In dynasty, future seasons remain part of the decision. Assess the offer against the cost of holding a veteran through recovery, without assigning him a guaranteed future ranking. A speculative deadline deal or a projected replacement signing should not be treated as a completed event.
Which replacement should you pursue?
Start with healthy players whose roles are supported by recent usage. More routes, repeat targets, and a usable game this week can matter more than being the next name on an injured player's depth chart.
The Rams may distribute opportunities across several players. Confirm actual participation before paying for one receiver to inherit all of Adams' work. If you are comparing injured receivers, the Mike Evans update describes a different, unresolved availability situation; the two absences should not receive the same timetable.
